This is a Part-time position (20-25 hours/ week) that will involve split shifts for morning and afternoon bus runs. Applicants must enjoy working with children, particularly those in afterschool programs, as you will be responsible for safely transporting them. In addition, you will assist with lunch/ nap times and afternoon activities in the classrooms.
A successful candidate must:
- be at least 23 years of age with a High School Diploma. An Associate, CDA, or Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education is preferred.
- hold a clean and valid Texas driving license and is willing to drive a 14-passenger bus.
- be able to work split shifts to cover 7- 8am and 3- 4:30pm bus runs (an example shift would be 7- 8am & 2- 6pm).
- have at least 3 years of Early Years Teaching experience (with children of 3 months to 5 years of age) and be able to assist the classrooms when not running the bus.
- have good mental and physical health, be able to communicate effectively (verbal and written) and have a positive, smiling attitude.

For the Bus Driving part:
- Greet the children and their families warmly and with enthusiasm each day.
- Maintain vehicle in a safe, clean and operating condition.
- Ensure children are supervised at all times.
- Maintain all required record keeping such as transportation logs, attendance sheets, transition sheets, medication forms, accident and incident reports, etc.
- Complete bus attendance each time a child loads or unloads the vehicle.
- Complete a visual sweep of the vehicle after unloading and make sure another teacher or member of management completes the second sweep.
- Complete pre-trip inspection on vehicle daily.
- Complete emergency evacuations of bus and record information.
- Check oil and other fluids each time the vehicle is filled.
- Maintain required vehicle safety equipment.
- Follow all bus safety rules and procedures.
- Maintain a safe and stimulating environment for young children.
- Plan and develop activities to meet the physical, emotional, intellectual and social needs of the children in the classroom.
- Provide activities and opportunities that encourage curiosity, exploration, and problem-solving appropriate to the development levels of the children.
- Prepare, in advance, and implement the planned curriculum activities.
- Document the children’s curriculum experiences through displays and pictures.
- Conduct ongoing assessments and collect work samples and documentation for each child’s portfolio.
- Maintain all required record keeping such as transition sheets, daily sheets, medication forms, portfolio and assessments, accident and incident reports, etc.
- Establish routines and use positive and constructive guidance methods to reinforce appropriate behavior with children.
- Work cooperatively and effectively as a team member by communicating and contributing information continuously.
- Maintain open, friendly, and cooperative relationships with each child’s family and encourage their involvement in the program.
- Demonstrate behavior that is professional, ethical, and responsible.
- Continue professional development through attending workshops, conferences and other staff development.
- Report to the Director or Leadership Team any special needs or problems with children, their families or other staff members.
- Perform general custodial responsibilities for the bus and the classroom
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
- Experience transporting children on a bus and working in an early childhood facility.
- Knowledge and experience working with young children.
- Hold current certification in First Aid as well as Infant & child CPR.
- Ability to be perceptive and aware of all children in your care at all times.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of children, families, co-workers, and the school.
- Ability to be flexible and adaptable to meet the needs of the children and the school.
- Must be at least 23 years of age with a High School Diploma.
- Hold a clean Texas driving license and can drive a 14-passenger bus.
- Be substance-free, including over-the-counter medications that might impair driving ability. Willing to submit to a drug test, if requested.
- Provide current driving record.
- A positive, smiling attitude.
- Good mental and physical health.
- Be familiar with and follow the state licensing regulations and the Creative World Policies and Procedures.
- Undergo required background checks and screenings.
- Ability to communicate effectively (verbal and written).
- Ability to see children and their environment and hear all types of sounds.
- Ability to maintain emotional control under stress.
- Ability to routinely lift up to 40 pounds, move furniture, sit on the floor or child-sized furniture, and sustain long hours of active work such as bending, standing, or walking.
- Willingness to work in an environment where they may come in contact with children who are ill and/ or contagious.
- Be prepared to handle accidents and emergencies at any time.
